IT IS FINALLY DONE!

After two months of writing and editing, I have finally finished my first book, Rose and the School Games Day!

Ironically, I first realized my passion for writing when I was preparing for my big exam, Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). When I was writing compositions in preparation for the exam, I would always get so caught up that in the end, my poor teacher would have to mark at least eight pages of my writing. Both my parents and English teacher told me that my stories were interesting and they suggested that I should consider writing a short story after my exams.

I wanted to write about a fantasy story initially. But after numerous drafts, I realized that I was biting off more than I could chew and I decided to write a story about friendship instead. During the pre-exam period, I had some friendship problems and it turned out to be good material for my book. I was able to channel my personal experience and emotions into the characters, giving more depth to my writing.

This story would have lacked a lot of its character and touch without the help of the talented illustrator, Tan Yi Mei. She read my story and immediately, my characters and key events came to life with her beautiful drawings. Often, they are even better than what I can imagine! Lastly, I would like to thank my dad. He just did what a father typically do, tying up all the loose ends from editing to production to all the online stuff that I don't understand. This project would not have been possible without the two of them.

I have wanted to share my first piece of work with others for quite a while now and I am overjoyed when that wish finally came true! Right from the start, this was intended to be a social project. All proceeds from the sale of this ebook will be donated to my charity of choice, the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. It is for a worthy cause and you can find out more about it here.

So I hope all of you will support me in my writing pursuits and buy the ebook (button at the bottom of this page). I am not sure where this will end but I am taking it one step at a time and having as much fun as I can. Thank you!
